PLACING A BLECH ON THE STOVE

All stove fires and knobs must be covered to keep us from making the fire bigger or smaller on Shabbos. The cover on a stove is called a Blech. Food may be kept on a Blech -- rather than on the fire -- to keep it warm for Shabbos.
